If You're Just Starting Out
Sort out your pure sequence first
Do this before anything else. Without it, your declare doesn't count, no matter how good the rest of your hand looks.
Don't hold on to high cards
A King or Ace you're not using is just extra points waiting to hurt you. Drop it early.
Watch what others discard
You can pick up a lot about someone's hand just by paying attention to what they're throwing away.
Once You're Comfortable
Save jokers for the right spot
Use them to complete sets or impure sequences, never waste one on a pure sequence.
Middle cards are gold
Cards between 4 and 9 give you more flexibility to build multiple sequences.
Don't be predictable
If you keep discarding from the same suit, sharper players will figure out your hand.
Getting Serious
Cut your losses when needed
Can't declare? Focus on keeping your leftover points as low as possible instead of forcing a bad hand.
Play differently per mode
Points Rummy rewards fast decisions, Pool Rummy rewards patience. Don't play them the same way.
Just play more
There's no shortcut here, the more you play, the faster you start spotting patterns.
One More Thing
No strategy guarantees a win, that's just how rummy works. Set a limit for yourself before you start and stick to it, more on that in our Responsible Gaming Disclaimer.
